“Of” means multiply: 2/3 of 3/4 is 2/3 × 3/4. A fraction is a division: 3/4 = 3 ÷ 4 (3 pizzas shared by 4 people). Multiplying by a fraction less than 1 shrinks, by a fraction greater than 1 grows, and by 1 keeps the size — you can predict that before computing. Dividing by a unit fraction asks “how many of these fit?” (2 ÷ 1/3 = 6 scoops), and dividing a unit fraction by a whole number splits it into smaller pieces (1/2 ÷ 3 = 1/6).
