How to Reset Your Course in Sleedu
At the end of a semester or school year, you can reset your course in Sleedu to get it ready for your next group of students. A reset removes old students, their submissions, and their grades — while keeping everything you built: your activities, quizzes, question banks, gradebook categories, and period groups. You do not need to rebuild your course from scratch.
⚠️ Before you begin: A course reset permanently deletes student data. Make sure final grades have been exported or recorded in your school’s official grade system before resetting. This action cannot be undone. |
Open Course ReuseFrom your course page, click More in the course menu (the row with Course, Settings, Participants, Grades, and Activities), then select Course reuse from the dropdown. |
Select ResetOn the Course reuse page, click the Reset link. This opens the reset form, organized into sections you can expand and collapse. |
General — Set Your New Course DatesIn the General section:
Roles — Unenrol Your StudentsIn the Roles section:
Gradebook — Delete Grades, Keep Your StructureThis is the most important section to get right. In Gradebook:
Groups — Leave Everything UncheckedIn the Groups section, leave all four boxes unchecked:
Your period groups (Period 0–7) and their enrollment keys stay in place, so next semester’s students can self-enroll into the correct class period on day one. Group members are removed automatically when the students are unenrolled — you don’t need to delete anything here. |
Assignments — Clear Old SubmissionsIn the Assignments section, check all three boxes:
This removes old student work and any extended deadlines you granted, while keeping the assignments themselves ready for your new students. If your course has other activity sections (such as Quizzes or Forums), check the equivalent “delete attempts / posts” options there too. |
Run the ResetYou may see a “Reset not supported” section listing Question banks. That’s good news — it means your question banks are never touched by a reset. All the questions you’ve built stay safe. Scroll to the bottom and click the red Reset course button. A confirmation window appears asking “Are you sure you want to reset the course?” — click Reset course again to confirm. Sleedu then shows a progress screen with a stopwatch icon while your course is being reset.

What’s Removed vs. What’s Kept
🗑️ Removed • Students (unenrolled) • All grades • Assignment submissions • Deadline overrides • Old events and notes |
✅ Kept • All activities and quizzes • Question banks • Gradebook categories and weights • Period groups and enrollment keys • Co-teachers and support teachers |
That’s it — one reset at the end of each semester keeps your course fresh without losing any of the work you’ve put into building it. Need help? Reach us anytime through live chat or at winelements.com/support.
