Create Your Question Bank and Your First Question

Your question bank is where all your quiz questions live. In Sleedu you create one course question bank, then organize it with categories — and the single best habit you can build is to make one category per activity, used like a folder. Do that from the start and your questions stay tidy, quizzes are easy to build, and you can share a single activity’s questions with another teacher in seconds.

This guide covers three things: creating the course question bank, adding a category (folder) for your first activity, and writing your first question.

Part 1 — Create the course question bank

1. Open your course and click More in the tab row, then choose Question banks. [SCREENSHOT: More menu, Question banks]
2. If the course has none yet, you’ll see “This course doesn’t have any question banks yet.” Click Create default question bank. [SCREENSHOT: Create default question bank]
3. You’ll get a confirmation — “Default question bank created” — and the bank appears as First Semester Chemistry (J. Nguyen) course question bank with Questions: 0. [SCREENSHOT: bank created]

That’s your bank. You only do this once per course.

Part 2 — Add a category as a folder for your activity

This is where the one-folder-per-activity habit pays off.

1. Open your question bank (click its name).
2. Click the Questions dropdown at the top left and choose Categories. [SCREENSHOT: Questions dropdown, Categories]
3. On the Edit categories page, click Add category. [SCREENSHOT: Edit categories, Add category]
4. Fill in the form: [SCREENSHOT: Add category form]
   • Parent category: leave it at Top for … course question bank (keeps your folders at the top level).
   • Name: name it for the activity, not the whole unit — for example, 1-My First Activity. Numbering the front (1-, 2-, 3-) keeps them in order.
   • Leave the rest blank.
5. Click Add category.

Why one category per activity, not one per unit? If you dump every question for a unit into a single big category, pulling questions for a specific quiz means hunting through dozens of unrelated items — and sharing just that quiz with a colleague is messy. A folder per activity keeps each quiz’s questions self-contained: easy to find, easy to reuse next year, and easy to export and hand to another teacher.

Part 3 — Write your first question

1. Back on the Question bank page, use the Category filter and select your new folder — 1-My First Activity — so your question lands in the right place. [SCREENSHOT: filter set to 1-My First Activity]
2. Click Create a new question…
3. Choose a question type: [SCREENSHOT: question type picker]
   • Multiple choice — the most common; one or more correct answers.
   • True/False — quick checks.
   • Short answer — students type a word or phrase.
   • Numerical, Matching, Essay, and more for other needs.
4. Click Add.
5. Fill in the question: give it a name (for your own reference), type the question text, set the default mark (points), and enter the answer choices with the correct one marked. Save.

Your question now lives in the 1-My First Activity folder, ready to drop into a quiz.

Doing it again

For every new activity, repeat Part 2 (add a category/folder named for that activity) and Part 3 (create questions inside it). You build the course question bank once; after that it’s just a new folder per quiz, all year long.
