This guide walks you through how to find free lesson resources with ready-made Moodle question banks on winelements.com, download them, and import them into your Moodle course on Sleedu. The whole process takes about five minutes.

Part A — Register & Find Resources on Win Elements

Step 1: Go to winelements.com and log in

Open your browser and go to winelements.com. Click the account icon or navigate to the My Account page. You will see a login form.

Step 2: Sign in with your Google account

Click “Continue with Google” at the bottom of the login form. A Google sign-in window will appear — select your school Google account to continue.

Step 3: Confirm you are logged in

Once signed in, you’ll see your account dashboard with your name and avatar. You’re now ready to browse the lesson library.

Step 4: Navigate to the Blog and select a category

From the top menu, hover over Community and click Blog. On the blog page, use the Categories dropdown to filter by topic. Select “Lessons & Activities” to see posts with downloadable question banks.

Step 5: Open a lesson post

Click on the lesson you want. In this example, we’ll use “Chemistry Lab Safety — Study Notes.” Each post includes the full study notes and a downloadable question bank file at the bottom.

Step 6: Download the question bank file

Scroll to the bottom of the post. You’ll see a download link for the question bank (a .zip file). Click the Download button to save it to your computer.

Step 7: Extract (unzip) the downloaded file

Find the downloaded .zip file in your Downloads folder. Right-click it and select “Extract All” to unzip the contents. Inside, you’ll find the Moodle XML question file(s).

Part B — Set Up & Import into Moodle (Sleedu)

Step 8: Open your Moodle course and go to Question Banks

Log into your Moodle site (Sleedu). Open your course, then click More in the top navigation bar and select Question banks.

Step 9: Open your course question bank

You’ll see a list of question banks for your course. Click on your course question bank to open it.

Step 10: Create a category for the new questions

Before importing, create a category (folder) to keep your questions organized. Click the Questions dropdown and select Categories.

Step 11: Name your new category

On the Edit categories page, click Add category. Give it a clear name that matches the lesson topic — for example, “1-Lab Safety for Upload.” Then click Add category to save.

Step 12: Go to Import

Return to the question bank. Click the Questions dropdown again and select Import.

Step 13: Select Moodle XML format and choose your category

On the Import page:

• Under File format, select Moodle XML format
• Under General → Import category, select the category you just created (e.g., 1-Lab Safety for Upload)
• Check Get category from file if you want to use the category name embedded in the XML file instead

Step 14: Upload the XML file and import

Click “Choose a file” and navigate to the extracted (unzipped) folder. Select the .xml question file. Then click the Import button at the bottom of the page.

Step 15: Verify your questions

After importing, Moodle will show a summary of all imported questions. Click Continue to return to the question bank. Your questions are now ready to use in quizzes!
