A question bank is your course’s filing cabinet for quiz questions. Every question you write lives here — quizzes just pull from it. Set up the filing cabinet well, and every quiz you build for the rest of the year is faster. This guide shows elementary teachers how to create the question bank, and — just as important — how to organize it with one category (folder) per activity, so you can always find, edit, and share your questions later. The example is a 3rd Grade course; the steps are the same for any grade.
Step 1 — Open Question banks
From your course, click More in the top menu and choose Question banks.
Step 2 — Create the default question bank
A new course has no question bank yet. Click Create default question bank.
Sleedu creates one named after your course — here, 3rd Grade course question bank — showing 0 questions. Click its name to open it. This one bank is all you need; you will organize everything inside it with categories.
Step 3 — Open Categories
Inside the question bank, click the Questions dropdown at the top left and choose Categories. This is where you build your folders.
Step 4 — Add a category for your activity
The bank starts with one category: Default for 3rd Grade course question bank. Don’t put your questions there. Instead, click Add category to make a folder for the activity you are writing questions for.
In the Add category window, leave the Parent category on “Top for … course question bank,” and give the folder a name that starts with a number followed by the activity name — for example, 8-My First Reading Activity. The number keeps your folders in teaching order instead of alphabetical order. Click Add category.
Step 5 — Create a new question
Switch the dropdown back to Questions. This page lists your questions and lets you filter them by category. Click Create a new question…
Step 6 — Choose a question type
Pick the type of question you want and click Add. For elementary students, Multiple choice, True/False, and Matching are the friendliest places to start — students click or drag instead of typing.
Step 7 — File the question in the right folder
Before you write anything else, look at the Category dropdown at the top of the question form. Change it from the default to your activity folder — here, 8-My First Reading Activity. Then write your question name and question text as usual, and save.
