Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  • Add warm water, warm milk, and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough and divide it into 8-12 equal portions, depending on the desired size of the buns.
  • Roll each portion of dough into a ball and flatten it into a circle. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each circle.
  • Bring the edges of the dough up around the filling and pinch them together to seal the bun. Place the bun, seam side down, on a greased baking sheet.
  • Cover the buns with a damp cloth and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  • Steam the buns for about 12-15 minutes or until they are cooked through.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Instead of steaming, you can also baking the buns in a preheated 175°C oven for 15-20 minutes
  • You can also add some sesame oil and brush it on the surface of the bun before steaming.
