Plan and Create Grading Activities ahead

Challenges: Planning or creating activities ahead in traditional method often relying on making copies of worksheets in advance. After copies are made, it is unfixable.

Overview of Solution: Teachers can create activities and resources ahead without showing them to students until they are assigned on the day of the activity. More importantly, this allows teachers to collaborate during PLCs to create common activities and resources easily.

Create non-graded activities or resources in advance:

  1. Create your activities or resources
  2. Click Edit >> Hide
  3. When you want to assign it, you would click Edit >> Show

Create graded activities (assignment, quizzes, lessons, workshop, or forum)

  1. Create your activities or resources
  2. On the Main course page,
    1. find the activity and click Edit >> Hide
    2. Set its weight to 0, so it does not affect students’ overall grades in your class
      1. Gear >> Grade book setup
      2. Find the activity >> check the weight box > enter 0
      3. Scroll down and click Save changes.
  3. When you are ready to assign it,
    1. Find the activity on the Main-course page and Click Edit >> Show
    2. Uncheck the weight box and delete 0, so it will calculate toward students’ overall grades in your class when we use this website’s grade book entirely.
      1. Gear >> Grade book setup
      2. Find the activity >> uncheck the weight box > delete the 0
      3. Scroll down and click Save changes.

Create an entire section/unit in advance

  1. Create your section and activities or resources in it
  2. On the Main course page,
    1. Find the section and click Edit >> Hide ( This will hide the section and all activities and resources in that section)
    2. Hide the section in the gradebook setup, which also hides all of its activities, on students’ grade book.
    3. Set the weights of the section and all of it graded activities equal to 0, so they do not affect students’ overall grades in your class
      1. Gear >> Grade book setup
      2. Find the section and all of its activities >> check the weight boxes> enter 0’s in the boxes
      3. Scroll down and click Save changes. This will apply to multiple selection above.

When you are ready to assign activities and resources in the section.

  1. Find the section on the Main-course page and Click Edit >> Show.
  2. You may want to hide the individual activities and resources and show them when you want to assign it.
  3. Go to Gradebook setup to show the section and all its activities
    1. Gear >> Grade book setup
    2. Find the section >> Edit >> Show ( This will also show all the activities in that section if you did not hide individually at first)
  4. On the Gradebook setup, uncheck the weight box and delete 0, so it will calculate toward students’ overall grades in your class when we use this website’s grade book entirely.
    1. Gear >> Grade book setup
    2. Find the section >> uncheck the weight box > delete the 0.
    3. Scroll down and click Save changes.
